Oxytetracyclin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic active against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, some Mycoplasma, Spirochaeta, Rickettsia, protozoan and Chlamydia species. This prolonged form of the antibiotic maintains a high concentration of the product in blood serum for 72 hours upon single intramuscular injection. |
Tetrasol L.A. is prescribed to cattle, calves, sheep, goats and pigs for the treatment of primary and secondary infections caused by agents sensitive to oxytetracyclins, such as erysipelas, leptospirosis, udder and womb inflammation, pneumonia, haemorrhagic septicaemia, necrobacillosis, anaplasmosis, bacterial enteritis, navel sepsis, arthrosis, post-operation and post-birth infections, MMA syndrome, enzootic abortion, wound infections, hydropericarditis etc.
Single injection of the product is usually sufficient for complete healing.
Tetrasol L.A. is administered singly via intramuscular route to cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats. The suspension should be shaken before use. If its volume exceeds 20 ml, it should be divided and administered at two separate sites. The site of injection should be massaged. The suggested dose is 15 mg per kg of weight or 1 ml per 10 kg of weight. If necessary, injection may be repeated after 48 hours (36 hours in pigs).
The product is administered singly via intramuscular route at the dose of 1 ml of Tetrasol 20% L.A. per 10 kg of weight. If necessary, a repeated injection is made after 3 days.
The product is not recommended for use in horses and rabbits.
The withdrawal period is 21 days for cattle and 28 days for sheep and pigs. Milk from the animals treated with Tetrasol L.A. may be used for food no earlier than 1 week after the last treatment.
