| Description: |
The serum is used for passive immunization and in the treatment of dogs sick with leptospirosis. The serum is a transparent slightly opalescent liquid, pale yellow in colour, sometimes with a red hue. Minor grayish white protein precipitate may form upon storage and should suspend easily upon shaking. |
| Composition: |
The serum contains antibodies to leptospira Canicola, Icterohaemorrhagiae and Grippotyphosa. |
| Mode of admnstration |
Vials with the serum are thoroughly shaken and warmed in a water bath to 37-38°C.
The serum is administered singly via percutaneous route in shoulder blade region. The dose depends on the body weight (0,5 cm3 per 1 kg of weight). In severe cases of illness the serum is administered for the second time at half the indicated dose. The serum may also serve as a differential diagnostic tool. If no therapeutic effect is observed upon repeated injection, this would mean that the disease is of non-leptospiral origin.
